Register with the DVLA
To legally sell or manufacture number plates, you must be registered with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). This is a mandatory step before you can operate as a supplier.
Penalties for Non-Compliance
Failure to register or comply with DVLA regulations can result in serious fines:

£5,000 for making plates without DVLA registration.

£2,500 for producing non-British Standard plates.

£1,000 for failing to maintain proper records of the number plates supplied.
To avoid these penalties, it's essential to follow the correct registration process.
Required Equipment and Setup
Once registered, you’ll need the right equipment to manufacture or supply number plates. Your business setup must match the DVLA's requirements for verification.

Delivery Address: Must match the one registered with the DVLA. If we cannot verify your registration status, your transaction will be cancelled, and a refund will be processed (up to 14 working days).

Fees and Charges
There is a one-time registration fee of £40.00 for each business location. If you have multiple business locations, each must register separately. Subsidiary companies must also complete separate registrations.
